What an ABS pump does

The ABS hydraulic unit controls brake pressure during anti-lock and stability interventions. Used replacements can be economical, but compatibility must be checked carefully.

Match the complete part number

Record every digit and suffix on the original module. Bosch, ATE and vehicle-manufacturer numbers may all appear on the same unit, so retain the exact reference that identifies your component.

Check hydraulic and electrical layout

Compare the number and position of brake-line ports, electrical connectors, mounting points and pump orientation. A similar-looking unit may still be the wrong specification.

Coding and bleeding

Depending on vehicle and module generation, installation can require coding, calibration, fault-code clearing and brake bleeding. Follow the vehicle-specific repair procedure.

Condition and photographs

Look for corrosion, damaged threads, broken connectors or signs of impact. A clear photograph should show the exact supplied component rather than a generic catalogue image.

Buying checklist

Match the OEM number, vehicle, engine, connectors and physical configuration before ordering. For safety-critical components, have installation and testing completed by a qualified technician.
